Windows as a Service offers a new way to build, deploy and service Windows workstations. This training aims to show you how to keep Windows upgraded based on real-world experiences with Windows 10 and Configuration Manager. We will cover various aspects of upgrading Windows workstations.

This training aims to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to effectively upgrade Windows workstations using real-world experiences with Windows 10 and Configuration Manager.

System administrators / desktop architects who are responsible for implementing Windows 10 as a service.

Introduction to Windows as a Service, Windows as a Service challenges and solutions, workstation pre-assessment, Windows 10 In-place upgrade scenarios, preparing for Windows 10 In-place upgrade, Windows 10 In-Place Upgrade using Task Sequences, building front-ends for user-driven Windows 10 In-place upgrades, BIOS to UEFI conversion, BIOS updates and configuration, troubleshooting, and Windows 10 Image Servicing.

Participants will gain skills in creating PowerShell-based front-ends for Windows 10 upgrades, assessing workstations before upgrades, writing scripts for Task Sequences, using Task Sequences in Configuration Manager, converting from legacy BIOS to UEFI, updating and configuring BIOS settings, troubleshooting upgrade issues, and upgrading from older versions of Windows to newer ones.

Experience with Windows Server 2016, good understanding of Active Directory, and good understanding of Configuration Manager Current Branch.

This training will walk participants through each step of upgrading Windows workstations, covering planning, pre-assessment, tool and script building, Configuration Manager setup, Proof of Concept (POC), pilot upgrades, and production deployment.
